Set the mood with a festive film and find joy in every moment
For some, recharging means embracing the great outdoors; for others, it’s about gathering with loved ones and watching a good movie or series to set the tone for the holiday season. Here’s how the RateHawk team stays entertained during the holidays:
Laura Harrison: “I love to get cozy on the sofa, with the Christmas tree lights on, and watch Miracle on 34th Street with my children. That’s what Christmas is all about to me—quality time with my family.
We enjoy long lazy mornings, lots of Christmas films and a trip to the theatre is a must. We also enjoy a Christmas games night with friends. It really bring out our completive sides, its so much fun!”
Tabatha Bradley: “My friends and I are rewatching Game of Thrones from the beginning, and I’m enjoying all of the snippy dialogue in the first seasons. That said, Harry Potter, Die Hard, and Nightmare Before Christmas are all “Christmas Movies” in my household, so I’m sure we’ll get to those at some point!
I’m outdoorsy, and love to recharge by enjoying time out in nature. Whether it’s a walk along the lake with my dog, or putting in time on the slopes, I’m always down to embrace Bonhomme season!”
Sean Simmons: “I love watching travel videos on YouTube. There are several cruise and theme park vloggers that I subscribe to and a guy, Joolz Guides, that records tours of different locations in London. Travel is my favorite hobby and watching the videos, I can experience the location without leaving my house.”
Piotr Wiklak: “After a year of intense work, I love to recharge by spending quality time with my family and diving into sports that invigorate me. I enjoy cycling, ski touring, and skiing, but this year, I’m excited to explore cross-country skiing, making it a fresh adventure. A healthy mind in a healthy body.”
Susana Hernandez: “I love watching old Christmas movies with my youngest son, such as It’s a wonderful life or Christmas Carol. For me, the best way to recharge is walking and spending afternoons with the family”
Iulian Mironescu: “Skating and campfires are my favourite ways to unwind. And a film to watch — Home Alone. It’s a classic every year.”
Indulge in festive treats
Food is at the heart of every celebration, and the RateHawk team has some delectable traditions to share. Whether it’s sweet or savory, these favorites are sure to add some festive cheer to your table:
Nikolai Petrov: “Classic waffles: take 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 4 teaspoons of baking powder, 2 tablespoons of white sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 ½ cups of warm milk, ⅓ cup of butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Mix flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a large bowl, and set aside. Preheat waffle iron to a desired temperature. Beat eggs in a separate bowl; stir in milk, butter, and vanilla. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture and beat until blended. Ladle batter into a preheated waffle iron. Cook waffles until golden and crisp.
Serve immediately and enjoy!”
Tips for a truly recharging holiday
Sometimes, the best advice for recharging comes from unique personal experiences.
Here are a few special tips from the RateHawk team:
- Catching Northern Lights
Check out space weather apps to see if you can catch the Northern Lights. Winter air is clear, which improves your chances of spotting an aurora. - Reconnecting with nature
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try reconnecting with nature. Breathe in the fresh mountain air or listen to the calming rhythm of ocean waves—it’s the perfect way to reset. - Making loved ones feel special
Take time to think about how to make loved ones feel special during the holidays—whether it’s through thoughtful table settings or heartfelt conversations.
