What time of the year should one visit Mallorca, Spain?

When planning a 6-day itinerary for your clients to explore Mallorca, it’s important to consider the timing of their visit. The best months for a trip to Mallorca are between April to August when the summer weather is most pleasant and rainfall is at its lowest. During this time, travelers can expect mostly sunny and warm days, perfect for activities like swimming, hiking, and outdoor dining.

The off-season, which falls outside of the summer months from September to March, offers some unique advantages. With fewer tourists around, your clients can enjoy attractions that are less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed and intimate exploration of the island.

While swimming may be less appealing due to cooler sea temperatures, the milder weather is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. Additionally, the off-season coincides with some of the community traditions and seasonal activities like Christmas in Old Town, Mallorca.

Day 1: Land at Palma de Mallorca and head to Sant Elm

Your clients will likely fly over the mountains and into the International Palma de Mallorca Airport, which happens to also be a great place to begin the adventure. Keep in mind that this airport is also often called Son Sant Joan Airport and Aeroport de Palma de Mallorca. Once landed in Palma, Mallorca, travelers will get in their rental cars and begin the scenic 45-minute road trip to our first destination, Sant Elm. 

Things to do

Sant Elm is a quaint fishing town, closer to the West Coast portion of Mallorca, renowned for its fine dining experiences and boutique shops. This small town is also the mainland’s access point to surrounding islands like La Trapa Nature Reserve and Sa Dragonera.

• La Trapa Ruins and Monastery (allow 4.5 hours or so)
• Check out the off-coast island: Sa Dragonera (allow 4+ hours)

Day 2: Drive the mountainous roads to Valldemossa

After a good night’s rest, it’s time to move on to your client’s next destination: Valldemossa. A beautiful one-hour road trip will take us south to a small, charming town snuggled between the Tramuntana mountains.

Things to do

There are plenty of things to do here, some right down the road from each other. However, this town is most famous for its cultural heritage, beautiful streets, and historical sites.

• Stroll through the Old Town and admire the seaside coast and beach

Day 5: Explore Fornalutx and the surrounding area

Any traveler who may be an uneasy driver will be pleased to hear that, once again, our next stop is only a short 10 minutes away. Day 4 takes us to Fornalutx, which is often described as one of the prettiest villages in Spain. The architecture and the surrounding views attract visitors from around the world.

Fornalutx provides numerous opportunities to engage with its culture, cuisine, history, and natural surroundings in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains.

• Visit the Church of Sant Bartomeu

Our final day concludes with Llombards, a charming beach and resort nestled along the southeast coast of Mallorca and a ways away from the capital, Palama. This hidden gem is situated in the village of Es Llombards and is often overlooked by tourists, making it a serene and peaceful destination favored by holiday home villa owners.

Things to do

There isn’t a better place to cap off a trip to Mallorca than with a relaxing day. Here, clients can swim in the clear waters, explore the natural surroundings, or just take a casual undings through town and feast on delicious cuisine.
