Where to find trending summer 2026 vacation ideas

Social media is changing how your clients research and plan their summer vacations. They’re falling in love with destinations they may have never considered before after video tours and social media content, whether it’s long-form vlogs on YouTube or 15-second TikTok videos. While social media is one of the best ways to promote your services as a travel agent, it’s also the perfect research tool to stay on top of the latest travel trends your clients might enjoy.

At RateHawk, our travel guides make this research even easier with our in-depth blog posts, covering everything from the world’s most exclusive island resorts to the cheapest countries to visit and what to do in Paris

How to curate the best summer vacation packages

Everyone’s travel needs are a little different, and where you’ll excel as a travel agent is in curating a unique package that they’ll love by understanding these needs. Families with young kids aren’t likely to travel to the same destinations as solo travelers in their 20s or a couple going on their honeymoon.

Before you start suggesting potential tour options and trip itineraries, it’s worth taking the time to get to know your client and what aspects of a trip are most important for them. Do they want a quiet getaway by a lake or to discover a new city?

At RateHawk, we’ll help you curate a package that includes everything from car rentals to accommodation and airline tickets. Once you know your client’s preferences, you can start matching them with some of our top recommendations for 2026 getaways.

21 best places to travel in summer 2026

Travel has never been more accessible than it is today. Research has found that almost 70% of people plan to go abroad in the next 12 months, with over 80% spending as much or more on summer holidays than previously.

We’re sharing a range of places to suit every budget and itinerary preferences with a focus on what these places can offer your clients in 2026. Whether you’re helping to plan a honeymoon, a family vacation, or a bucket list trip, these 21 places are guaranteed to create lasting memories.

Beach and relaxation destinations for 2026

Beach getaways remain one of the most loved summer vacation spots – and for good reason! We live in an era when most of us spend our days inside, in front of a screen. If your clients want a digital detox, hit up a few walking trails, or simply relax and unwind in the sun, we have six recommendations for them to visit in 2026.

1. Puerto Rico

Where to stay:

Puerto Rico is one of the most loved of the Caribbean islands. It ticks all the boxes your clients will be looking for, from sandy beaches to picturesque mountains, all offered with warm temperatures year-round. Temperatures hit the mid-80s in August, while later visits in September will usually bring more rainfall, although there will still be plenty of sun!

June is a great choice for an early summer getaway to avoid the crowds, with July to November still being considered the low season. Puerto Rico is a great choice with U.S. residents, who aren’t required to have a passport to visit. Top-rated itinerary options in Puerto Rico include Tortuga Beach, San Juan National Historic Site, and Cayo Icacos.

2. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Where to stay:

Brazil is a place you’ll always find on our lists of must-visit cities. It’s been named as the top destination for 2026 by Travel & Leisure and is a great vacation choice year-round. You can curate an itinerary to suit every client, whether they’re a couple on their honeymoon or a group of friends who have always loved the idea of going to the Amazon rainforest.

New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest times of the year, making the summer the best time to experience Rio de Janeiro with more competitive pricing. Any visit to Rio de Janeiro must include a visit to Christ the Redeemer, the iconic symbol of Brazil, Copacabana Beach, and the Centro district.

You can curate an immersive itinerary for your clients, allowing them to experience the best of Brazil, from taking a cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain for a birds-eye view over Rio to a day spent at Copacabana beach and even a football match at Maracana Stadium. Although Brazil is often thought of as party central, Rio de Janeiro also has plenty of family-friendly accommodation choices and activities for tourists of all ages.

3. Morocco, North Africa

Where to stay:

If your clients want a beach getaway in summer 2026 without peak tourist crowds or breaking their budget, Morocco is the perfect choice. Marrakesh sees its so-called “low seasonin July and August, which is when most of your clients will want to hit the beach.

What makes Morocco so attractive to visitors in 2026 is its diversity, offering everything from the blue-washed town of Chefchaouen, to the famous Casablanca, and the metropolis of Marrakesh. If they’re looking to spend their getaway in a quiet spot, look for accommodation located away from the coast, as this is where most tourists end up staying.

July and August are very warm in Morocco with temperatures regularly hitting 40°C or 104°F. If you’re planning activities for your clients, make sure they’re booked early in the morning. Although we’re classing Morocco as a beach location, there’s still plenty of other itinerary options, including taking a camel trek, indulging at a traditional Moroccan bathhouse, and visiting Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

5. Mexico City, Mexico

Where to stay:

You might be noticing a trend of breach locations that ironically don’t see their high season during the summer months of July and August. Mexico is another country that falls into this category. It’s an ideal choice for clients looking for an all-inclusive resort and foodies who want to experience authentic Mexican cuisine. Tourists can choose to stay close to their resort or immerse themselves in Mexican culture.

Although we’ve placed this location in the beach category, there are plenty of activities and attractions to expand your client’s itinerary between resort days. During 2026, Mexico is co-hosting the FIFA World Cup, in partnership with Canada and the United States, with 5 matches held in Mexico and 4 in Guadalajara. 6. Barbados

Where to stay:

Barbados is a Caribbean destination that we love, and 2026 is when even more tourists can experience this Caribbean island. Several direct flight routes are opening soon, including from Delta and KLM, and Barbados has recently gained attention as a common port for cruise itineraries following the upgrade of Bridgetown port.

Just like Mexico, Barbados will appeal to clients searching for an all-inclusive resort, including families, with many offering private beach access and added extras. Beach enthusiasts will want to hit up spots like Bathsheba and Carlisle Bay, which offer experiences like snorkeling and scuba diving. While July and August are considered part of Barbados’ wet season, your clients can still expect daily temperatures to be around 28 to 30 °C.

Between days spent relaxing by the resort pool, taking a dip in the ocean, and chilling by the beach, tourists can fall in love with the beauty of Barbados by taking the six-mile hiking route from Bath Beach to Bathsheba or by heading to Farley Hill National Park.

City and culture destinations

If your clients loved previous vacations where they got to experience and enjoy other cultures like a local, a city break may be the perfect choice for their 2026 vacation plans. City breaks are great if your clients only have a few days for their vacation or if they want the flexibility of flying to a major hub for a more streamlined itinerary. Cities work for all types of clients, from budget backpackers to luxury enthusiasts and families.

1. Florence, Italy

Where to stay:

Everyone dreams of going to Italy at least once – and it even features more than once on this list of 2026 destinations. While May to September offer the warmest temperatures and the largest tourist crowds, there’s more to Italy than just Milan and Rome.

Florence is a must-see for history enthusiasts, and it feels like stepping back in time to the Renaissance era. It’s home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and you’ll see contemporary Italy flourishing alongside the country’s rich heritage.

Early summer crowds visiting in June can take part in the 88th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival, while visitors in early July can attend “Rothko in Florence“, a retrospective of Mark Rothko’s work at the Palazoo Strozzi and Museum of San Marco.

What we love about Barcelona is that it’s easy to take things at a slower pace here, from exploring the Gothic Quarter to sampling traditional cuisine at La Boqueria food market and just enjoying the sun.
